An InVintory alternative for smaller collections

If your collection is shared with a partner, HomeSomm covers what you actually use from InVintory at a fraction of the cost: unlimited bottles on every plan, drinking windows, and AI pairing, for a fraction of InVintory's roughly $150 a year per person, with one subscription covering the whole household.

What InVintory does well

InVintory is the most feature-complete consumer cellar app on the market. Its 3D cellar visualisation, bin-level slot mapping, and valuation tracking are genuinely best in class.

For a collector with 1,000-plus bottles across multiple storage locations, or anyone who needs insurance-grade valuation, InVintory is the better product. That is an honest recommendation.

Where it is too much app

A kitchen wine fridge does not need a 3D map. A household that buys a case at a time does not need valuation history.

The free tier caps how many bottles you can track and the AI features sit behind the paid plan, which lands around $150 a year. For a 60-bottle wine rack that is a lot of software per bottle.

  • HomeSomm: unlimited bottles free, one Premium subscription for unlimited AI and the whole household
  • InVintory: roughly $150 a year for AI-enabled tiers, per collector
  • HomeSomm scope: inventory, drinking window, pairing from your stock
  • InVintory scope: the above plus 3D cellar, valuation, provenance, wishlists

Switching

Export your InVintory inventory to CSV and import it into HomeSomm; producer, vintage, varietal, region, quantity, and drink-by columns map across.

Anything the export misses can be filled by AI per bottle, then corrected by hand.

Frequently asked questions

What is the InVintory free tier limit?
InVintory's free tier caps the number of bottles you can track and keeps the AI sommelier and 3D cellar features on paid plans. Check their pricing page for the current cap before you commit.
Is InVintory good for small collections?
It works, but it is built for large multi-location cellars. For 20 to 400 bottles most of its features, including 3D mapping and valuation, go unused.
How much does HomeSomm cost compared with InVintory?
HomeSomm's free plan tracks unlimited bottles for one user with capped AI use. Premium will be one subscription covering the household, at a fraction of InVintory's roughly $150 a year per person for its AI-enabled tier.
